HD, or "high definition," is a term most often associated with motion picture film and video footage which must meet a specific high resolution image standard.  Theatrical exhibition requires the most demanding resolution standards since images are increased to many times their original size through projection.  35mm motion picture film possesses a frame resolution of about 4000 lines.

HDTV, or "high definition television," provides another venue for high resolution imagery.  Although HDTV does not deliver the resolution of 35mm film, it provides a considerable improvement over standard NTSC resolutions, with 1080 and 720 lines.

Current format standards at Prairie Pictures are 35mm and HD video.
