StormStock Team Captures Rare Footage of House Caught in Tornado

ARLINGTON, Texas - Prairie Pictures announced today that a StormStock team has captured rare footage of a house being blown apart in a tornado. The team was conducting a routine tornado intercept on May 12 near Attica, Kansas when they spotted a tornado bearing down on the new home of Linda and Randy Robbins, located in a rural area outside of town. Cameras were already rolling on the tornado when they noticed it approaching the house. Just seconds later, the Robbins home was consumed by the tornado. The footage shows the house disintegrating in the fierce tornadic winds. Once the tornado passed, the team rushed to the aid of the family who were found unharmed in their basement.

"My husband came home to the house and asked me if I'd ever seen a tornado or been close to one, so he took me outside south of the house and there were 4 or 5 dirt devils a mile away," said Linda Robbins. "We watched it out the south windows and it kept coming closer and a funnel came down from the sky and they joined together. That's when Randy said, 'It's coming straight at us,' and that's when we went to the basement. The roof went off and the French doors blew in. It just happened so quick I couldn't' tell you if it was separate or if it all happened at once. The storm chasers were there immediately. They wouldn't let us leave the basement until they knew it was secure. Then they saw another one coming and told us to get back in the basement." The Robbins home will soon be rebuilt and life will return to normal. "We're both fine and nobody was killed and we've got it good, we're just looking at the good," she said.
