ARLINGTON, Texas - Prairie Pictures announced today that it has added a significant collection of new and dramatic footage to its StormStock library.  The images feature unique 35mm footage of tornadoes, thunderstorms, and winter storms shot by cinematographer Martin Lisius this year.

The 35mm material was transferred directly to HDCAM and SD video earlier this week by Spirit colorist Steve Franko at Video Post and Transfer in Dallas.  "I think Martin Lisius captures nature and storm footage better than anyone else, especially when he's working with 35mm," said Franko.  "And for video, HD gives it the depth it deserves."

The task of acquiring quality images of severe weather on film can be monumental.  "You've got to be a meteorologist, a navigator, a cinematographer with nerves of steel, and in good physical shape to do what I do," said Lisius.  "Everything is against you.  It's like an obstacle course designed by nature that you have to complete without a single mistake.  The challenge is tremendous but very rewarding when you succeed at capturing nature in its most dramatic form, and transposing it to film."

The new collection of footage further enhances StormStock's status as the top storm footage library in the world.  The library licenses its images for use in TV and film productions including theatrical features, primetime television programming and commercials.  StormStock sample video clips can be viewed on-line at http://www.stormstock.com.
